Objectives
- Implementation of project work by students and thereby encourage publications and Powerpoint/Poster presentation at conferences.
- Conduction of Seminars/Workshops.
- Encourage the students for Internships, as a result of which subject related placements will increase.
Vision:
To ensure that students develop an interest In basic sciences, curiosity in academics and are exposed to practical training, real life challenges which will enhance their theoretical understanding and increase an aptitude for exploration.
Mission:
- They will be encouraged to develop scientific temperament, real life challenges will help in developing analytical skills. Internships would become the stepping stone to success in research/job Industry
Zoology Department
- Zoology Department was established in the Year 1993. This course was offered at the UG level in the science stream.
- It started with combination of BZC. It is of a duration of 3 years
- Post graduation course in Zoology was started in the academic year 2005-2006.
- M.Sc. Zoology course is for a duration of 2 years. Students join through PGCET as well as a few management seats are available
Why Opt For Zoology As A Subject In Ug

Scientific sojourns:
- Life science Departments with Make Intern organised an Online Internship on the topic ‘Artificial Intelligence in Health care’, a 15 hour program.
- The Life Sciences Departments have been regularly going to visit the “OPEN HOUSE” of CCMB. It helps to motivate them, expose them to State of the Art equipments which they might have read only in text books.
- Whenever seminars are being conducted in University, students are asked to attend, to know the recent Trends and also to have exposure to world renowned experts.
- Expert Lectures are being organised.
- Workshops have been organised in Recent Trends in Molecular Biology for the benefit of students.
Internships:
- Kishore Vaignanik Protsahana Yojana is a scheme being promoted by the Govt of India to encourage basic Research in science.
- Summer Internships are being offered by IIT and NIT under the Government of India Scheme.
- Internshala is a website which will be giving details regarding all the Internships available.
- Life sciences Departments have partnered with Make Intern to offer one virtual Internship.
- Fisheries Research Station, Kakinada provides trainings even on personalized courses at nominal charges for group of students.
- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture Bhubaneshwar has pre designed trainings scheduled during the calendar year. Being central Government Institute, they have exceptional facilities, which would be extremely beneficial to students.
Ecological & Biodiversity Hotspot visits
- The Department of Lifesciences in a combined effort has been organizing Ecological & Biodiversity hotspot visits to different locations in successive years.
- Ramappa, Mallur, Lakhnavaram, Tadvai fall into these categories.
- Along with enjoyment in pristine environment, the students have been getting an opportunity to collect herbarium, observe different species in their natural habitat, study the physico-chemical parameters and try to develop analytical skills.
