It is with immense pride that I welcome you to the Department of Zoology at Vaagdevi Degree and PG College (Autonomous), Hanamkonda. Established in 1993, our department has grown into a vibrant hub of academic excellence, offering B.Sc. programmes in combinations like Botany-Zoology-Chemistry and specialized tracks in Dairy Science, alongside our M.Sc. Zoology programme introduced in 2005.

Our curriculum spans Invertebrate Diversity, Genetics, Ecology, Biotechnology, and Applied Zoology, enriched with practical training in Aquaculture, Apiculture, Sericulture, and Animal Husbandry. We continuously strive to provide students with both strong theoretical foundations and hands-on learning experiences.

The department actively promotes research through student live projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and add-on courses such as Vermicomposting and Medical Diagnostics. Our faculty and students have contributed significantly to research with more than 100 publications in reputed journals.

Expert lectures and interactions with scientists from institutions like Kakatiya University inspire innovation and scientific inquiry among students. Our graduates are well-prepared for careers in organizations such as ZSI, CCMB, ICAR institutes, medical colleges, academia, and industry.

The Department of Zoology at Vaagdevi Degree and PG College (Autonomous), Hanamkonda, Warangal, was established in 1993 and has steadily developed into a center of academic excellence and practical learning. The department offers undergraduate programmes with diverse combinations such as BZC, BZCS, BTZC, NDZC, and FSZC, along with specialized tracks in Dairy Science.

The postgraduate M.Sc. Zoology programme, introduced in the academic year 2005–06, admits students through PGCET and management quotas, providing advanced academic and research training over two years.

The curriculum is comprehensive and covers subjects including Invertebrate Diversity, Embryology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Biotechnology, and Applied Zoology. Strong emphasis is given to practical and skill-oriented areas such as Aquaculture, Apiculture, Sericulture, and Animal Husbandry.

To enhance employability and entrepreneurial skills, the department offers add-on courses in Vermicomposting, Sericulture, Aquaculture, and Medical Diagnostics. Students are encouraged to participate in projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and academic events like PRANI-Q 2K26.

The department conducts regular student progress reviews, meetings with supervisors, and interactions with additional study advisers to support academic and research development. Students also undergo training programmes focused on research methodology and transferable skills development.

The department actively promotes experiential learning through projects, seminars, workshops, internships, and outreach activities. With a focus on fostering scientific temperament and research aptitude, graduates are well-prepared for careers in organizations such as the Zoological Survey of India, CCMB, ICAR institutes, and medical colleges.

Our graduates have been highly successful in securing employment opportunities. Many pursue research careers in universities, research institutes, and industries, while others enter professions in education, public services, and publishing.
